Giant Magazine / July 2006

In contrast to his last CD Schizophrenic, which
Billboard described as "wonderfully all over the musical map" (though
it peaked at 17 and sold a disappointing 51,000 copies its first
week), Chasez says this album is more focused. "I met new writers this
time and teamed up with different friends." Chasez's big name
collaborators include Dallas Austin, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake,
who chimes in on "God Bless America" and the satire "Until Yesterday."
"Justin and I went right back to finishing each other's sentences."
Chasez says. "A lot of our personal jokes show up on the album." |
mtv.com / October 18, 2006

"Obviously he
knows what he's doing," former 'NSYNC bandmate JC Chasez said. "He's
got a great eye, man. He's set a trend for the last two years with his
looks, T-shirt and hoodies with suit jackets." |
vh1.com / September 6, 2006

And, of course, Chasez had nothing but glowing reviews for his
buddy Justin's upcoming LP, FutureSex/LoveSounds, due Tuesday. "He has
a phenomenal record coming out," Chasez said. "Obviously, he's one of
my best friends. But 'SexyBack' is a brand-new sound for him, and it's
opened up a lot of minds. The safe route would have been to make
another record like the last one, because it was so successful. But I
like the fact that he said, 'No. I'm going to be artistic. I am going
to change my sound,' because that's what he was inspired to do."

Rolling
Stone / September 21, 2006

His former bandmate JC Chasez - for whom Timberlake is also currently
producing tracks - calls him the "golden child." "The kid has stepped
out," says Chasez, who's five years older. "He's grown by leaps and
bounds. He's a Jedi." In fact, when he's in the studio, collaborators
refer to him as "Annie," as in Anakin Skywalker. |

Like so many of his generation, Timberlake flips through pop
culture with the clipped attention of a remote control with a hair
trigger. He asks: "Who's your favorite Beatle? Right, John Lennon.
That's easy." "Star Wars" character? "Chewbacca or Boba Fett, is that
the two? I want to be Han Solo. He's cool." "The Wizard of Oz"
requires no deliberation — "The Scarecrow, c'mon, it has to be. Ray
Bolger. Easy." He goes on to name Jordan Knight as his favorite New
Kid and Chasez as his most beloved 'N Sync member.

mtv.com / August 17, 2006

-excerpts-
"He and I have written three or four songs now that I kind of put a
producer hat on for, which was an honor, because in my opinion, he had
the best voice out of all of us," Timberlake revealed recently. "Out
of all the boy bands, call 'em what you will, he was the one that
could out-sing all of us. ... And I've known him since I was 10, so it
was fun to sit behind the board and push him."
-
"I remember our conversations about it, I said, 'You're too talented
for your own brain,' " Timberlake recalled. "I think that when you
have that much talent and you can sing so many different styles, you
want to sing all of them. And so what we did in the studio is, I
really feel like we zoned in on a specific thing for him and it really
came out. Not only do I really think they're good songs, good pop
records, but they build a character for him."
-
"You can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't give it a
specific style, you give people too much room to compare you to
everyone else," Timberlake said. "And I definitely saw that with the
first record." |
mtv.com / January 22, 2007

Although JC and Justin have remained close friends since the
unofficial end of 'NSYNC, this marks their first time collaborating
since both went solo.
"We were just hanging out one night and he was like, 'Why don't we do
a tune together?' " Chasez recalled. "And I was like, 'Sure, man, why
not?' And it literally was that easy. And that's actually the second
song we wrote. The first song we wrote was called 'God Bless America,'
which is a really cool record, and then we did ['Until Yesterday'] and
there was just so much magic in it. Between the drama in the story and
the music itself, it just kind of stood out from the rest of the stuff
we've been hearing lately."
Chasez and Timberlake have since made one more track together, another
relationship exposé called "It's Over Before It Began." "We just
wanted to find interesting perspectives, and that is what I do with my
songwriting — make sure the story is there," Chasez said. "And you
know Justin has got more groove than just about anybody out there, so
there is a great combination when the two of us get together in the
studio." |
Genre Magazine / January 2007

Q: Your collaboration with Justin Timberlake might surprise people.
”It is something we both really enjoyed doing.”
Q: What is the songwriting chemistry between you and Justin?
”We were together for so many years that it comes naturally. We're
practically finishing each other sentences. Now that we have lived
separate lives for years, we both came back to the table with
different perspectives, yet with the same talent.” |
|
Richmond Times Dispatch /

A few times throughout the evening, the club DJ spun "Until
Yesterday," which moved most of the crowd to the dance floor. Maybe
now, Chasez has finally left behind that boy band taint and listeners
will accept his musical maturity as they have Timberlake's.
"I give Justin credit for opening a lot of doors," Chasez says. "I
think he had a lot to do with showing that it's about talent, and you
can be up there with the best of them. I like to think that soon
enough, I will be, as well.” |

What do you think about Justin Timberlake’s work and him as a friend?
He is one of my best friends; he’s a wonderful human being. I think he
was the best pop artist of 2003. I’m so proud of him. I hope to
achieve the same with my solo album. |
|
The Daily Mail / April, 2004
-excerpts-
JC:
Justin was 11 when I met him. I knew then there was something
about him, even though a lot of people thought he was uncool. Three years
later, he heard my music and realized we could do something really big
together.
-
JC:
I remember meeting
Justin, he was nervous, but I could see he was someone I was going to like.
-
JC:
I knew Justin really
well, but we hadn’t got together on a musical level. I never realized he was
so into the music. He was only about 14, but he was completely focused that
this was going to be a career.
-
JC:
Justin and I became
really close. We were like brothers. It got to the point where I could
pretty much read his mind, I'd know what he said before he said it. He was
like that with me, too. It sort of happens when you're together constantly
for eight years.
-
JC:
Fame
doesn’t make me happy. I’m not doing this to be the biggest thing on the
planet. I’m doing it because I want people to like my music- and someone has
to give Justin a run for his money.

Timberlake grabs this
reporter's recorder and begins a play-by-play from the sidelines.
"Everyone is playing paddleball. JC is particularly good, Joey sucks
and Lance is mediocre. I, on the other hand, am the most mature of the
group, so I'm going to stand here and say everything I think about the
guys on this recorder. Chris-short; Lance-idiot; Joey-big idiot; JC-really
good at paddleball. Uh, gotta go! Joey is chasing me with the
paddleball." |
Seventeen / July 2001
Another subject
Timberlake would prefer to steer clear of is his much speculated-about
relationship with Britney Spears. "What are you talking about?" he asks,
feigning ignorance when first asked about her. He then offers a diplomatic
response; "If anyone is going to understand my schedule and demands, it's
Britney, because she's in the same business," he says. "Going public with
our relationship was a choice that she had to make. Britney didn't want
people to say, 'Oh, that's Justin's girlfriend,' because she has her own
thing." Chasez, who's also in the room, starts jumping up and down behind
Timberlake. It's not the most subtle way of distracting a nosy journalist,
but it's touching to see him helping his buddy out of a tight spot.

The growth
is undeniable-some tracks are rough R&B, others are super smooth ballads and
the peppy lead single "Pop even finds the guys experimenting with the

"I'm proud of Justin-he's probably done the best stuff on the record."

Phillips:
What
did you think of the NFL show? You know Justin. You spent a lot of time with
him. Did he know what was going on? Did you talk to him? What did you think
of the performance?
JC:
I didn't ask him whether he knew what was going to happen. He
did actually -- I hadn't talked to him in a couple days. It's a hurricane
around him right now. But he called me up yesterday and he just said, You
know what? He goes, I just want to apologize to you. I in no way, shape, or
form in my wildest dreams thought this would ever affect you. And I said me
neither. I was at home watching it like everybody else. He goes, you know, I
don't know what to say. I said you don't have to say anything. You said
you're sorry. It shouldn't have reflected on me. You know, I just told him
to keep his chin up. What happened happened. It's just a weird situation. I
definitely don't think that the whole entertainment industry should change
because of one mistake. You reprimand a mistake and then everybody moves on
with their lives. You don't start looking for other mistakes and reasons to
call other things a mistake. You know? Again, it's just -- it's a little out
of hand. I think everybody needs to stop, breathe and move on with their
lives.

The Richard and Judy Show / March 31, 2004
Judy:
And then,
after that, you left the Mickey Mouse club when you were eighteen.
JC:
Mm hm.
Judy:
You were
at a bit of a loose end, 'cause you didn't quite know what to do. But you
and Justin, um, really wanted to do something together, didn't you?
JC:
Yeah, we
paired up. What happened was, I knew I wanted to do music, I just didn't
know how to go about it, you know. This was my first gig I ever got, was the
TV gig, and it's like "Now I wanna make a record. How do I go about doing
this? I know I auditioned for TV, but how do you get a record deal?" So I
went out to LA and I bounced around, and then I came back into Nashville,
where Justin was working with this lady named Robin Wiley, who was one of
the vocal coaches on the Mouse Club. And so she was working on his demos,
and she invited me to write with her, so I ended up crashing at her place,
you know, and we would go to the studio and write everyday, and then J would
pop in town – you know, cause he lived in Memphis which was a four hour
drive from Nashville. So he would drive in town and we would work together
on the weekends, and he would leave and I would work during the week and set
up new stuff, and he would come, you know...
Judy:
"J" is
Justin?
JC:
Justin,
yeah.
Richard:
Did you
ever doubt, in those days? Cause you were working as a waiter, weren't you?
Obviously, you must have had a bit of teasing. People said, "Hey, weren't
you the guy on the Mickey Mouse Club?" That must have been hard...
JC:
My whole
thing is, I'm a worker. And I don't care. I just - me, I just gotta do what
I gotta do. And I knew I wanted to do music, and I thought, "Okay, if I have
to work from the bottom up, I'll work from the bottom up." You know what I
mean? I'm thankful for every opportunity I'm given.
Richard:
Did you
know that it was gonna work? Did you know as you were writing on weekends
with Justin that it was gonna kick in?
JC:
You never "know" anything. You can only, just, hope for the
best. Again, Justin's my best friend. When we were working on the project, I
ended up moving in with him in Memphis after a while, and his mom would take
care of me *and* him, you know. She's a wonderful woman. And when we decided
to do the NSYNC thing, we moved down to Florida. All the guys moved in
together and Justin's mom was like the house mom. She had to put up with
five guys, who, you know, this guy wants to go out, this guy wants to go
here...all I wanted to do was sleep and work and that's it.

Celebrity Extra / April 3, 2004
Liz:
Now,
people are obviously gonna draw comparisons between all the solo projects
from all the ex-NSYNC members. Did you think when you started off your solo
career that Justin's would be a help or a hindrance?
JC:
I didn't
even care. You know, J made his record, he's a superstar, hands down, he's a
great friend, I love him to death. He did exactly what he wanted to do, and
I couldn't be more proud.
Liz:
That's a
lovely attitude to have. Did you guys chat, did he kind of give you a couple
of hints when was heading out? [pretends to be Justin] "JC, don't do this,
do this. Definitely don't do that."
JC:
[laughs]
Everybody said, you know, did anybody give you any advice? And again, I
kinda wanted to do my own thing. The one piece of advice he did give me -
because he knew that I wanted to do my own thing - was, make sure you do
exactly what you want to do, because you have to live with it for the rest
of your life.

Cat:
Now are
you prepared for all these comparisons that are obviously going to be drawn
between you and Justin?
JC:
It's already - I've already got a pile of them. I'm not too worried about
it. At the end of the day, our records are very different. The thing is, you
know, when you heard Justin's record it was totally different from an *NSYNC
record, as my record is totally different from an *NSYNC record and it's
totally different from a Justin record. You're gonna get a whole 'nother
flavor from me.
Cat:
Yeah,
which is good. Is there any rivalry, like even be it good-hearted?
JC:
I talked to him 2 days ago, life is good. [laughs]
Cat:
Good,
good. 'Cause if it was me, I'd tease him a bit, like, "I'm after your ass!"
JC:
No, man, you know what, all it is, is I call him, he's talking to me,
"How you doin, man?" "Good." "Yeah cool, man, keep it up." Blah blah blah,
you know. I was like, "How's the flick going?" He was like, "Good." I was
like, "Keep your chin up," you know. We look out for each other.

I've always dealt with comparisons. I mean, I think every

Bert:
How is it for you, like, to be driving around and
listen to Justin’s songs on the radio?
JC: I’m really - I mean, the last record, you know, was
huge and was a big success and I was happy for him, but I’ve spent,
you know…I’ve been a lot closer to this record for him this time
around just ’cause we’ve ended up working together while he’s
releasing his stuff, so I’ve kinda become like his biggest champion at
this point. I’m really pumped for him. I love the first single. I know
like, for some people it took a while to grow on them and stuff like
that ’cause it was so different-sounding, but I love the fact that he
didn’t play it safe. He didn’t make another record just like his last
record.
[...]
JC:
He pushed it, man, you know? And that’s what artists
are supposed to do. They’re supposed to open up people’s eyes and
people’s minds and, uh, I love it. I love the first single, you know,
I like the second record, I got my opinions on what the album - what
songs I love on the album, but everybody likes something different.
But I think it was a great, great album that he put out and it was a
great step in his career.

JoJo: You guys, once again that’s JC Chasez on the phone if
you can’t tell by his voice. And give me the details, dude. I know you
performed at Justin’s somethin’ somethin’ somethin’ with your new
track, right?
JC: The night of the MTV awards or whatever, um, he had
a performance at this place called the Roseland, which was, uh, kind
of like a block away from where they were doing the awards. And, um, I
just popped in and, uh, we talked about it I guess that day, and he
said if you guys can soundcheck and stuff like that, it’d be great for
us to kind of do like a surprise for the crowd.
JoJo: This track you – this track you performed, this is
the track that’s gonna be comin’ up on your album, it’s your first
single, and it’s a track that you and Justin…he produced or you guys
co-produced? Or…
JC: Well, what happened is we were hanging out, and um,
we kinda talked about it. We just got to shootin’ the breeze one night
and just kinda got to talkin’ and sayin’ “Man, we need to make some
music together,” you know? And so our schedules allowed and we ended
up in the studio doing a track. The first one was called “God Bless
America” and then after that…
JoJo: Which by the
way dude – hey, let me stop you there – “God Bless America,” I’ve
heard that track and that track is frickin’ stellar.
JC:
[Laughs] I’m glad, I’m glad you like it.
JoJo:
Stellar! Not that that means anything…
JC:
Yeah, yeah.
JoJo:
…that your boy JoJo likes it, but, damn!
Damn, damn, damn!
JC:
Yeah, it’s a heater. So, um, we ended up
doing that, and we just knew there was chemistry from that point on a
new sound, so we ended up getting back in the studio and we came up
with this song called “Until Yesterday,” which is the first single off
the forthcoming album. And, uh, it sounds great, and the fact of the
matter is we were in New York at the same time, and he asked me to,
you know, to sit in, and he sat there and he played and sang with me
while we were up there and it was fun, man. It was good times.

Timberlake, who…
Trish: Who’s that?
JC: He seems to be this guy who’s just super

Audience member:
Are you still friends with Justin Timberlake?
JC:
[Laughs] Yeah. That’s actually…the first song that’s coming off the
album, the Until Yesterday song, again, like I said before, um, I
co-wrote it with him. Um, and uh, he did the production on it. And um,
you know, it was great to be back in the studio with him. Uh, we were
talking one night and uh, he just kinda - we just kinda were talkin’
and shootin’ the breeze, and the next thing you know it was like, you
know, “Why don’t we get in the studio together?” And I was like, “I
don’t know, why not?” You know? And a week later we were in there, you
know, and we were makin’ records again. And it was a lot of fun. But
it was great because it was a whole ‘nother perspective.
Fishboy:
Right.
JC:
It wasn’t about…again, it wasn’t about compromises at this point.
His job at that point was to be the producer and to get the best out
of the artist. So it wasn’t like, you know, “I’m not feelin’ that from
my point of view.” We didn’t have to - it was a relief for me because,
you know, he was getting the best out of me instead of, you know,
really saying “Well this has gotta be me and you.” You know what I
mean?
Fishboy:
Right.
JC:
It was about, you know, my point of view, but it was about, uh,
making it the best it could possibly be, and he’s a great producer. I
feel like he got something out of me that nobody else could’ve gotten
out, and uh, it was great. It was fun, man. It was like, it was all
jokes. Um, and you know, again, it was also great to see the new point
of view. After being on the road for ten years…
Fishboy:
Right.
JC:
…you know, you can finish each other’s sentences, you know what I
mean? We would sit down and talk and you know what somebody’s going to
say before they say it.
Fishboy:
Yeah, there’s that level of comfortability because you’ve been
together so long.
JC:
Yeah. But at the same time you also kinda become, like, the same
mind, so you don’t maybe get as inspired by it because you know it’s
coming. when we’ve lived separate lives now for years, and it’s like,
he’s experienced things different than I have and I’ve experienced
things different than him, so when I bring a story to the table it’s
brand new again.

JC: I also ended up working with Justin, who seems to be on top of the

GT: [Laughs] He brought sexy back, you know.
JC: Yeah, he brought sexy back. So, I mean, that was a great
experience for me, we had a lot of fun in the studio just, you know,
talkin’ ’bout old times and making new music.
[…]
Kerry: Now, I wanted to, uh, ask you about the new album again. You
have a couple songs on there, uh, according to your Wikipedia page,
one of the tracks is called “God Bless America”…
JC: Yes indeed.
Kerry:
Is that the, you know, the regular “God Bless America” or is
this a brand new…
JC: This, this is a whole ‘nother thing. This is, uh, it’s our take -
it’s another one I did with Justin.
Kerry:
Mm hm.
JC: We were sittin’ around the studio and we were like, “You know
what, I haven’t heard like a ‘California Girls’ kind of thing in a
long time.” The last people to do it were maybe the Beach Boys and
David Lee Roth remade it, but nobody’s actually written an original
song in a while that kinda is in that genre.
Kerry:
Right.
JC: So we decided what would be, like, the next “I wish they all could
be California girls.” We kind of went, like, “Man, she -” and we just
kinda were sittin’ around, and we both live in the South and stuff
like that, and just thinking of all the funny sayings that everybody
has said around us. We’re just like, “God bless America, that woman is
beautiful!”
Kerry: [Laughs]
JC: And we were like, “We gotta do a song now!”
Kerry:
That’s great.
JC: So that’s how it ended up becoming “God Bless America” - it’s
actually just about, you know, how hot a girl is and da da da da, and
how there’s no place better to meet a girl than right here.
[…]
Kerry: We’re hangin’ out with, uh, Justin Timberlake’s boy, JC Chasez!
JC: Yeah, man.

JC: He’s a fantastic producer, absolutely.

DJ: Yeah.
JC: And uh, one day we were sitting around talking, and

world right now, maybe. [Laughs]
DJ: Yeah. Doing…and now he’s single again.
JC: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he’s single. I saw him a couple of
days ago at his show. I went and saw his show, which is phenomenal, so
I would say everybody go out and see that show. It’s, it’s
unbelievable. He’s playing in the round, the people who do Cirque du
Soleil designed the whole show. It’s something else.
DJ: Wow. And he’s already on tour? The tour’s already
started?
JC: Yeah, he’s on tour. Yeah, man.
DJ: And the movie, Alpha Dog, is in the movies.
JC: Yeah, he’s, he’s tacklin’ it all. He’s tacklin’ it
all. |

DJ: If you could resurrect the career of any person in *NSYNC,
who would get that platinum ticket? If you said, "You know what? I can
hand you this."
Justin: Well, in my opinion the best singer out of all
of us was JC, always. It's funny because actually we've been workin'
together on some stuff for his next solo record. |

Cubby: And what
do you think about your boys? Justin's gettin' ready for his big tour-
JC: Dude, his show's awesome. I was over in the UK and I've
seen pieces of it. You guys are gonna be really excited to see some of this
stuff he's doing. |

Amy:
So
what's the best prank that's ever been pulled on you?
JC:
Well, uh, there was, uh... when J...oh yeah, this is pretty good,
actually. It was the time when they were shooting the Star Wars movie.
JC:
And we
were all...just wanted to be a part of this movie because we all love Star
Wars. And sure enough, J told us, he was like, "Yo, I gotta quit the tour."
And we were like, "Why?" He's like, "I got chosen to be Anakin." And we were
like, "Oh my God! Dude, call them up and see if I can do it, man!
Just...I'll be Jabba's wormboy!" I was like, I don't care, you know, just
wanted to be in the flick.
DJs: [laugh]
JC:
And
sure enough, I mean, he had us buying it for like hours and hours. And we
were all like, all of us just felt like we got hit with a sledgehammer.
'Cause we were like, "We're quitting touring, we're not gonna get to play
anymore, and he's in the movie, [pathetic voice] and we wanna be in the
movie..."
DJs: [laugh]
JC:
'Cause
he always - he didn't really care about the flick. He was like "It's okay,
it's cool." But me and Joey and Chris especially, we were just like, "Man,
Star Wars is, you know..."

Cha Cha:
Britney
Spears recently hinted that Justin Timberlake's "hmmhmm" was a little
Richard, can you defend him on that?
JC:
Uhh,
I don't know how to answer that, it's none of my business man, so I don't
know how it is.

Bo:
Here's something that we ask a lot of the guests. Now we talked a
little bit ago about having the hot cell phone. What's the biggest celebrity
you got on the cell phone?
JC:
The biggest celebrity I have on my cell phone...I don't know! I can't
tell you who's on my cell phone anyway, that's not right.
Bo:
[laughs]
JC:
I don't want somebody stealin' my phone!
Bo:
I'm not gonna steal your phone! Who do you - well, of course you've
probably got Justin.
JC:
[playfully] I got Justin Timberlake in my phone! How do you feel about
that, player?
Bo:
[laughing] Hey, can we call Justin? I got him on my phone too, I'll just
dial him up!
JC:
[laughs] Yeah, right!

You are
my absolute favorite member of NSYNC. I don't know why...I mean, I like
JT...
JC:
Me too.

Matty:
Hey, how about Justin Timberlake's, uh, just over-the-top success? Uh,
some people saw it coming. I personally didn't. I mean, NSYNC did great, but
I just couldn't fathom his insane popularity. Is that good or bad for the
rest of the NSYNC guys, where he set the bar so high?
JC:
Um, I think it's great, you know. Any attention he gets is attention for
the entire band, because everybody knows that's where he got his - he
catapulted from, you know. And it also gives us some credibility from people
who didn't, you know...any time you have a positive impact, it's gonna shine
on us, because he sharpened those skills somewhere, and that was with us.
Everybody who didn't give it a fair shake in the beginning, I think they'll
give it a fair shake now.
Matty:
Are you gonna follow in Justin's footsteps and date somebody old enough
to be your mom?
JC:
[laughs] No, I'm gonna be all right...

Channel 95.5 Detroit / June 22, 2004
Mojo:
But you
couldn't date Britney...
JC:
No, no
way.
Mojo:
There would
be...Justin... J.
JC:
I thought
you were just asking me who was hot.
Sarah:
Yeah I
was just asking who was hot cause it was Maxim's hot 100, so I was asking
for his top ten.
JC:
Yeah,
yeah yeah...no way would I ever date her dude are you kidding me.
Mojo:
That's
not right to your friend right?
JC:
I mean either way...of course not.
Sarah:
Bros before hoes.
JC:
[laughs] You know the saying, I'm proud of you.

Scott:
Is there a little rivalry between you and Justin Timberlake?
JC:
None at all.
Scott:
None?
JC:
None, none.
Scott:
Not even a little bit?
JC:
Nope.

Dom:
Have you got a copy of the Justified CD?
JC:
[laughing] Of course I got one of those.
Dom:
Oh, shit. Oh, well, we gotta-
JC:
I got it before it came out. I know people.
Dom:
Oh, you big name-dropper! Get your hand off it!
Jase:
Actually JC, when was the last time you actually talked to Justin?
JC:
Uh, what? uh, a couple of days ago.
|
The Edge / July 19, 2004
Dom:
This is a chance for you to name-drop --and don't feel bad about it, because
we're asking the question-- like who are some of your famous friends? Like
who do you hang out with? Like, do you know Robbie Williams? Do you hang
with Robbie?
JC:
Ahahaha...I don't hang with him-- I mean, I know him, and I've chatted
with him a few times, but y'know, he's not somebody that I go over to his
house every day or anything. You guys pretty much know everybody, that,
probably the more most famous people-- you already said 'em-- which is
Justin and Britney. They're probably two of the most famous people in the
world, right?
JJ:
I know, but they're not our friend!
Dom:
Yeah, yeah-- Justin changed his number and he forgot to call us and give
us the update. Can you give us the new number? [laughter]
JC:
Well, I got it, and you don't, so nyaaaah. [laughs]

I ended
up working on a collaboration with Akon on this record...
JoJo:
Awesome.
JC:
...and,
um, I actually hopped in the studio with my buddy Justin, and actually cut a
record with him.
JoJo:
Very
cool!
JC:
Yes.

KCRW / September 6, 2003
Chris:
Did you take any heat for working with, with one of the members of NSYNC?
BT:
Absolutely. I mean...and to start with, you know, when I produced "Pop"
for NSYNC, you know, there were a lot of people from the electronic music
community...very close friends of mine that are, you know, that had the same
sort of judgments that I had before I met them and sat around and listened
to JC and Justin sing and play acoustic guitar and go, "Holy crap, these
guys are gifted!"
So, you know, I think people get that it really is, uh...they
really are...those two guys specifically...and the other guys are really
nice people and I know them and stuff, but JC and Justin are the two that I
know really well. And they're real talents, you know what I mean? So,
anyway, yeah. Like I said, it was a great lesson in judgment for me.

When was the last time
JC lost it?
Justin: He usually loses his mind when he gets tired of drinks a lot of
caffeine. JC's real quiet most of the time but then he'll just suddenly go
crazy and we're like shut up!
What does JC do when
he is bored?
Chris:
Sleeps and reads books. He likes novels, actually,
Joey: Romance novels!
Justin: (a little alarmed): No, he reads sci-fi stuff and a lot of
philosophy books.
What's JC like to
share a room with?
Joey: But he never brushes his teeth and he never bathes!
So he stinks.
Justin: (shooting Joey a look) No, we all have a good attitude about
personal hygiene. Were a pretty clean band. But Joeys in his own category.
When was the last time you saw Justin genuinely upset?
JC:
Waking up! Every morning! He hates to wake up in the morning.
What's Justin like to share a room with?
JC:
Fine, We lived together for a while. He's not messy and he did the house
work.
What's
Justin's worst habit?
JC:
When everyone's trying to leave at one time, he always holds everyone
up.
