The Ballad of the 'Teers

Sit back and listen to
the tale
That I'm about to tell
Of boys that grew through thick and thin.
So listen, listen well.
Two mice- or children, actually
Brought to meet by fate.
One was larger, one was small
But their talents both were great
Together for a job to do
And yet, they became friends.
Even after that task that they were assigned
Came to a tearful end.
But their story, of course, was far from complete
Even in the smallest way.
For fate would bring them together again
And this time - it'd stay.
The younger was asked to join a new group
For Stardom - big and bold.
"Of course," he said, "But there is someone else!
Just talk to my friend of old."
Two pieces of a grand puzzle they were
And the world was very impressed.
But, not understanding the tight brotherhood,
They wondered just who was The Best.
Over the years, the arguments flew
Via fans of one or the other.
The rivalry, though, was just for those fans.
The boys were content to be brothers.
The group then decided it needed a break
To maybe go spread their own wings.
The younger decided to strike out on his own
Because he liked trying new things.
And everyone knew that he would be a smash
And of course, everybody proved true.
But fate and some coaxing conspired again
And the other said he would try too.
He worked very hard, as the fans knew he would
And crafted what he knew was art.
And the fans - what they heard - well, they were in love.
And wanted his stardom to start.
But business, as it does, would cause a delay
And the fans, they were very upset.
Theories started to spring up near and far
And most of them caused us to fret.
The company, the artist, well who was to blame?
Only they actually knew.
But then someone looked at the younger's success,
And said, "Well, it must be you."
Then people ignored the love of the past.
The hugs, and the playing, and smiles.
"The one just must have it in for the other.
And wished his defeat all the while."
Brotherhood really is an intangible thing
And of course it is hard to define.
But when brothers are chosen from heart and not birth
It means something special and fine.
So the future will come and the truth will be clear
And it will allay the fans' fears.
For really, when you look at the core of it all,
They are friends, they are brothers - They're 'Teers.
